Cape Coral Accident Attorney: Aggressive Driving Can Be Costly

by Carmen Dellutri on May 11, 2012

Naples accident lawyerThe Florida Highway Patrol recently announced the final phase of its “Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Truck” campaign. On May 4 -11, troopers statewide will be on the lookout for car and truck drivers who commit violations attributed to aggressive driving such as: following too closely, unsafe lane change, and speeding.

Motorists are at a serious disadvantage if involved in a crash with a larger vehicle. As we have mentioned on this blog, crashes involving tractor-trailers and buses often lead to serious injuries. That’s why it is important for all drivers to obey the rules of the road.

In addition to targeted enforcement, the campaign will use billboard and radio messaging to increase awareness among car and truck drivers of safe driving behaviors around one another and of the heightened risk of receiving a ticket for a violation. FHP and the Florida Trucking Association will conduct activities at schools and community centers around the state to educate drivers on how to share the road safely with trucks.

“In order to keep you and your family safe when driving around large trucks, motorists should be extra cautious. Sharing the road with larger vehicles can be dangerous if you are not aware of their limitations,” said FHP Director Col. David Brierton.  “We are pleased to partner with the Florida Trucking Association on Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks to save lives on Florida’s roadways.”
