Port Charlotte Injury Attorneys Warn Inflatable Pool Slides Could Put Your Family at Risk

by Carmen Dellutri on June 12, 2012

Florida child injury attorneyAs Port Charlotte injury attorneys, we are extremely concerned by reports that inflatable pool slides sold by popular retailers Wal-Mart and Toys "R" Us could be putting Florida families at risk. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the dangerous slides are linked to one reported death and several other serious injuries.

While the pool slides look like fun, they can deflate, allowing the user to hit the ground underneath the slide and become injured. The slide is also unstable and can topple over in both still and windy conditions. As a result, retailers and the CPSC have announced the recall of 21,000 inflatable Banzai in-ground pool slides.

Tragically, the recall didn’t come soon enough. A 29-year-old Colorado mother died in Andover, Mass. after fracturing her neck going down a Banzai in-ground pool water slide, which had been placed over the concrete edge of a pool. The victim hit her head at the bottom of the slide because it had partially deflated. Two other injuries have also been reported, including a 24-year-old man from Springfield, Mo. who became a quadriplegic and a woman from Allentown, Pa. who fractured her neck.

Given the serious risks posed by these slides, we urge anyone have may have purchased one to stop using it immediately.
