Don’t Be a Turkey: Drive Responsibly This Thanksgiving

by Carmen Dellutri on November 16, 2012

Cape Coral accident lawyerAs Cape Coral injury attorneys, we know that holidays are some of the most dangerous times to be on the road. Thanksgiving weekend is the most traveled holiday period of the year and almost 90% do so by car.

The added number of drivers and the increased risk for drinking and driving can result in a deadly combination. In 2009, 411 killed were killed over the Thanksgiving holiday. Of those, 34% involved alcohol impaired driving

To make sure everyone has a safe Thanksgiving holiday, we urge drivers to:

  • Plan ahead and leave plenty of time to get to your destination.
  • Always wear your seatbelt and make sure passengers are buckled up as well.
  • Get plenty of rest before hitting the road and, if you do feel drowsy, take a break or ask someone else to do the driving.
  • Use a designated driver if you plan to consumer alcohol.
  • If you are impaired, call a taxi, use mass transit or call a friend or family member to get you home safely.
  • Call *FHP (*347) to report intoxicated or aggressive drivers, or if your vehicle breaks down and you need assistance.

The Dellutri Law Group is focused on making bad situations better and putting lives back together. If you or someone you love has been seriously injured in a Cape Coral accident caused by someone else’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation.
