Florida car accident attorneyDid you guess the weekend? If so, you are correct!

According to the 2009 Florida Traffic Crash Statistics, the greatest number of fatal crashes (33) occurred on Sunday, during the 12:00 midnight hour. Friday, during the 4:00 p.m. hour, had the highest number of crashes overall (2,921).

Below are a few additional statistics regarding Florida car accidents. Even though they might not be surprising, they serve as an important reminder about the dangers posed by young drivers and drunk driving.

  • Teen drivers (aged 15–19) are the most dangerous. They had the highest rate per 10,000 licensed drivers of crash involvement (381.48).
  • Alcohol is a significant factor. 39.2% of traffic fatalities and 8.5% of traffic crashes were alcohol-related.

Finally, a bit of good news:

  • Compared to 2008, there was a 3.1% decrease in traffic crashes investigated and reported.
  • Compared to 2008, there was a 14.1% decrease in traffic fatalities.
  • Compared to 2008, there was a 1.2% decrease in traffic injuries.
